The (Phil) Coutu Trophy - Canadian Championship 10 Arrows Competition

Once a season each club allows their members to shoot only “10” arrows, at a full fork of birds on the men’s vertical pole. The archer who shoots the highest amount of points, in 10 shots, wins the trophy.  The Coutu Trophy was originally open to both men and women’s clubs up until 1969.

Mrs. P. Roels of the St. Sebastianettes is the only woman to have ever won this trophy in 1958.

In 1970, the Turner Trophy was introduced and awarded separately to the woman who shoots the most amount of points on the men’s pole with only ten arrows. Now, the Coutu Trophy can only be won by a male archer from one of the men’s clubs.

The Coutu Trophy was donated in 1951 by the Coutu Funeral Home of Winnipeg and has been in competition for 66 years.  A Robin Hood member has won this trophy 20 times since 1951.
